A Message from the Head of Department

The Department of Textile and Fashion Design aims to develop our students' creative styles and design visions. Our department, which establishes close ties with the industry, conducts collaborations and joint projects with the aim of training graduates who can compete with their peers on a global scale and places sustainability and inclusivity at the center of education.

Our curriculum is structured to expand our students' knowledge not only in fashion and garment design but also in the fields of weaving, knitting, and print design. Thanks to the courses prepared with an interdisciplinary approach within the university, especially in the first years, students take courses in the fields of social sciences, art history, cultural studies, and visual arts. Thanks to the graduation project completed in the final year and the mandatory internship application, it is aimed to provide our students with sectoral experience and prepare them for professional work life.

Our students are provided with the opportunity to work in professionally equipped studio spaces and workshops. To support individual creative experiences, students are encouraged to acquire design, communication, and research skills. One of our main principles is to closely follow technological developments and incorporate the innovations that emerge in this field into education. Our students use computer-aided design and drawing programs as well as artificial intelligence applications as creative instruments. Throughout the duration of their education, career development is continuously supported through seminars, discussions, industry visits, and alumni meetings. In this way, they are enabled to develop communication networks with the industry even before graduating.

Thanks to the Erasmus agreements, which we aim to increase in number each year, students have the opportunity to study for one semester or one year at various universities abroad.

Our department was accredited with "Unconditional Accreditation" by ACQUIN, an international accreditation body recognized by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, in 2024.

The medium of instruction in the Textile and Fashion Design Department is Turkish. English preparatory education is optional.
